Good Attendance At Eudunda War Memorial For Remembrance Day 2024
Residents assembled at the Eudunda War Memorial Gardens for the 11:00am Service on the 11th November 2024 for Remembrance Day in a solid show of respect.
The service was very well attended this year, with representatives of many local organisation and individuals coming together to remember the significance of Armistice Day marking the End of World War One and the tragedy of further wars.
A bright sunny day, with hardly any wind, just enough puff to fly the Australia Flag at half mast during the service.
The service was conducted by John Stephens (Previous Past President of the Eudunda RSL) and Hedley Scholz conducting the sermon.
Wreathes were layed in remembrance of the fallen.
A large contingent of students from years 3 through to 6 from the St John’s Lutheran School Eudunda attended, with Ayla Schutz (School Captain) and Dougie Mosey (Year 6) laying the wreath.
Back row: Charli Brown, Mrs Noack 5/6 teacher, Jonathan Niemz, Daniel Connor, Paddy Ross, Sonny Geister, Rachel Schutz, Rubi Neumann, Maria I’Anson Mrs Hocking 3/4 teacher, Ms Leese Principal.
Front row: Evie Reisenberg, Nellie Mepstead, Addison Williams, Marlee Kotz, Chloe Rowett, Dougie Mosey, Ayla Schutz, Bethany Jenke, Bailey Neumann, Tarkyn Schutz, Mitchell Saegenschnitter
Of unique significance was that due to a ‘pupil free day’ at the Eudunda Area School (EAS) all the Teachers and School Services Officers (SSOs) were able to attend the service. This is believed to be the first time this has occurred and was a welcome addition of historic significance. Student Mitchell Roebuck from the Student Leadership Committee laid the wreath on behalf of the school.
Back Row: Dane Pfitzner, Jake Birchmore, Max Neville, Chloe Radford, Ashlee Shannon, Brodie Launer, Amy Mepstead, Brodie Cox, Mitchell Roebuck (student), Harry Wuttke, Andrew Dempsey, Kate Verner, Vanessa O’Brien
Second Row: Brayden Greenslade, Amy Locke, Anna Roebuck, Fiona Schiller, Christine Schmaal, Georgia Slager, Andrew Mosey, Jessica Klingbiel, Nathan Close, Tanya Johnson, Rhiannon Calley, Rachel Moore, Janice Henderson

The EAS held a Remembrance Service at the school the day after on Tuesday at 11am (Tues 12th) for the students.
The gardens were in magnificent bloom with the memorial ring featuring a stunning display of hardy red geraniums, a credit to the Eudunda Gardening Sub-Committee for their hard work.
After the service RSL Members came to the Eudunda RSL Rooms for drinks and talks.
